Rabbi Jennifer Singer is Rabbi Emerita of Congregation Kol HaNeshama in Sarasota Florida, where she served from 2008 to 2022.
She now serves the Sarasota-Manatee Jewish community as a freelance rabbi, as well as writing a weekly blog as SRQJew. Many of her essays have appeared as Op-Ed pieces in the daily newspaper, the Sarasota Herald Tribune. Several of her prayers have been published in anthologies and prayer books.
Rabbi Jennifer is a vibrant and passionate teacher, storyteller, writer, speaker, and spiritual guide. She has never claimed to be a cantor, but she loves to sing in services.
She has extensive experience as a teacher of people of all ages and stages of life, although most recently she has specialized in adult education, teaching for the Melton School and creating original curricular materials.
She was ordained as both a Rabbi and Spiritual Director by ALEPH: The Alliance for Jewish Renewal in January 2017. She earned an MA in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary in May 2006. She also holds a BA in journalism.
She has two adult daughters and currently shares her home with an elderly rescued dog.
Her favorite things are chocolate, Judaism, largish dogs, antique rocking chairs, and her kids. Not necessarily in that order.
